Steve Gates

Steve Gates is the Managing Director of Taking Care, part of AXA Health, the UK’s largest provider of private pay personal alarms to vulnerable and elderly customers. Taking Care provides 24/7 cover to its customers via three Emergency Resolution Centres (in Exeter, Ashburton and Chichester) and is the UK’s fastest-growing provider of emergency monitoring services to vulnerable customers, especially after a fall has occurred. Taking Care has provided services from Devon for over thirty years and has supported over 180,000 loved ones to live an independent and active life while remaining in their own home. Taking Care works with a range of leading consumer brands, including Age Co and Brain in Hand, and is also the chosen partner to some of the UK’s largest Councils and housing associations. Dealing with over 2,500 alarm alerts per day, Taking Care provides a lifeline to customers and can provide support either via local contacts or a referral to the appropriate UCR or emergency services. Steve has been part of Taking Care for the last four years. Prior to that Steve worked at BUPA and Denplan and is a Board Member of TSA CIC. Steve is currently the Chair of the Exeter Chamber of Commerce. Steve is a Chartered Director and is a previous holder of the Best Leader award from the “Sunday Times 100 Best Companies to Work For”.
